in forest.pigments, 2025, variable (unframed)
In April 2025, I will launch the intervention *In forest. Pigments* as part of the Forest Research Platform, initiated and curated by Christl Mudrak. The aim of my work is to trigger and reveal the natural state of a forest. In spring 2025, natural pigments – initially beetroot powder, with turmeric and cornflower also planned for later – will be scattered using a sieve onto the concentrically fallen leaves of a maple tree in Grünefeld (Brandenburg). The pigments also act as fertiliser for the nutrient-poor, moss-covered soil of a forest that was formerly used for forestry. I see this intervention as a painterly intervention in the natural environment, thereby supporting the long-term formation of humus from the leaf litter. In doing so, I draw inspiration from natural processes as they would develop over long periods of time without human intervention. My work reveals hidden ecological processes and can encourage reflection on the relationship between humans and nature, as well as on time, patience and responsibility in the context of climate change.
